GRAY'S DRAFT STATUS IS UP FOR DECISION
WASHINGTON (AP) - Selective Service said today the draft status of
Fred D. Gray, Negro attorney, active
in the bus boycott situation in Montgomery, Ala., has been put up
to the Presidential Appeals Board for a decision.
Selective Service said Gray maintains a regular office as an attorney but also contends he devotes a number of hours each week to religious work. Under law, a deferment can be granted to a person whose customary vocation is regular preaching and teaching of religion. |
